  • New Leatherette Seat Care

Hey guys, I recently got a new vehicle and it has black seats with what I believe is most likely leatherette because its a pick up truck. They are like the ones in this picture... http://indianautosblog.com/wp-conten...-In-Images.jpg

I've done some research on caring for them and I saw that most people recommend caring for them like you would vinyl and that Natural Shine can be used (which I already have). But my concern is wouldn't this leave a slightly greasy surface?

I was thinking about getting the Meguairs Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. What do you guys recommend?

Also in the event that the seats get stained, will D101 at 10:1 be safe to use on them? Followed by something to protect them.

    Thanks

    Hi kieron24,

It would be best to check with the manufacturer first, to see what the seats are made of, but my first thought would be to use one of our leather conditioners if you are unsure. Remember it is OK to use our leather products on vinyl, just best not to use vinyl products on leather. (Also, if they were vinyl, and you did you a product like our Natural Shine, no, it should not leave a greasy surface. All of our interior products dry to the touch and are not greasy when applied correctly).

If you are concerned about staining, we do still make our G3800 Gold Class Leather Sealant Treatment. This has a stain inhibiting feature to the sealer, which will makes stains easier to remove. Yes, D10101 at 10:1 should be safe if needed. G13616 Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner or D14901 Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner is also a great cleaner for interior & much less aggressive than D101 All Purpose Cleaner. When working on most interior surfaces, it is always best to test a small inconspicuous area, and spray directly onto the accessory you are using to apply, and not onto the surface.

Our G18616 Gold Class Leather Conditioner is also a favorite of mine. Even though it is in packaged in a spray, it is more of a thicker clear gel, and when applied sparingly via soft foam applicator pad, it leaves a stock, low sheen, original appearance. Again, all dry to the touch.

Hope this helps. Let us know!

Thanks Nicholas. I think I'll play it safe and use the Gold Class Leather Conditioner or the combined cleaner and conditioner.
