  • Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax shelf life?

    HI Guys,

I have bought ULW about a year ago. Did not use it around 6 months. The bottle was stored properly, in normal temperatures (not too hot and not too cold). I have decided to use it yesterday and I noticed that it does not smell the way it used when I first used it. It has like a watery smell. As for the liquid itself, I won't say that it is too much watery. It still looks o.k, but may be a little bit watery. I shake the bottle well.

    So, here come my questions:

    1. Is it normal that ULW loses the smell it normally has and becomes more watery smelling?

    2. Is it safe to use ?

    3. Would you recommend to buy Ultimate Paste Wax and avoid using the ULW that I have?

    4. Will UPW have longer shelf life and is it better in durability and appearance than the liquid wax?

Hello and welcome to Meguiar's Online Forum.

The shelf life of most all of Meguiar's products is 3 - 5 years, and should not be exposed to prolonged extreme heat or cold. If a product were spoiled, it would never be unsafe to use it, it just may not perform as well. Based on the characteristics that you are finding, and the fact that the product returned to basically it's normal consistency, you should not notice any difference in performance.

Pastes Waxes do tend to last beyond 3 - 5 years, simply because they are a paste vs a liquid. There is no performance difference between our paste and liquid waxes, it is just a matter of personal preference.

I have some M21 that smells like someone broke wind!

It works just fine though. My other bottle smells like delicious bananas. You could imagine my surprise when I took a whiff of the "new" (bought it from someone on an FB page) 64oz container. I ended up selling the remains, and my new jug came on from Autogeek last Tuesday.

          Happy waxing!

Anyone notice the water beads inside the m21 bottle when left in a cold garage or shop perhaps? I normally shake mine up and has been fine unseperating the contents however thought it was pretty cool.
