  • Meguiars Microfibre Finishing Wax/Polish

    Hi.

I'm looking for some advice in relation the MF Polish system for a DA. I'm happy using the polish (the pink stuff) but I'm curious about the finishing product. Does it actually contain and abrasives and does it also wax the paint? I'm thinking that's it's like Autoglym Super Resin Polish, like an all in one product. Would that be fair?
The reason I ask is I'm going to be doing a vehicle soon where the paint is in very good condition so it just needs a finishing polish to get that little extra. I want to use a glaze after though, probably Prima Amigo and then a wax/sealant of my choice. So am I wasting my time using the Megs finishing wax/Polish? Would I be better just using an ultra fine Polish like the Menzerna 4000 that I have, then follow up with glaze and wax?

    I hope that makes sense.

    Ta, Chris.

    Re: Meguiars Microfibre Finishing Wax/Polish

    Hi Chris,

Welcome to MOL. Meguiar's D301 Finishing Wax applied via our DA Microfiber Finishing Disc was primarily designed to remove any haze from our DA Microfiber Correction System's first step, D300 DA Microfiber Correction Compound via DA Microfiber Cutting Disc. D301 is also designed to further refine the paint & produce a deep high gloss, and add carnauba/polymer wax protection all in one step. D301 DA Microfiber Finishing Wax can be used by itself and technically it is a cleaner/wax when used in this manner. D301 DA Microfiber Finishing Wax by itself & not following a compound step will provide very mild cleaning ability, add gloss, and add protection.

If you are looking for a product to use on a car that is in very good condition and you are just looking to remove light swirls & scratches & provide maximum gloss before applying your favorite wax or sealant, D301 DA Microfiber Finishing Wax probably would not be our first recommendation. We would recommend our Meguiar's Professional Mirror Glaze M205 Ultra Finishing Polish.

Hope this helps! Feel free to post further questions.

Thanks for the reply Nick. I'll have a look at the finishing polish you mention.
Would I apply that with a foam polishing pad or the MF?

It depends what cut you want as it works well with both, in my experience. For more cut, use the microfiber pad. For less cut, use the yellow foam pad.

Cheers for the help. I want sure the MF pads could be used with anything other than the specific matching products.

Agree with Lydia. M205 works great on either foam or MF pads.

You'll get a bit more cut via MF, so maybe just test it with foam on a test spot and see how the paint responds to that first.
