  • Hand waxer looking to make the jump

    Hey everyone

I've always waxed my car by hand out of fear or ruining the paint with a powered buffer. I used a orbital once that I got cheap at a garage sale, didn't use it a lot as a 10" pad is difficult to use around tight areas but the hood did look better. I was considering the DA power system as a stepping stone to get my feet wet also the cost between a DA and a mt300c is significant. I only have cordless drills a ryobi and makita 18v.

Is it worth getting a DA or is it better to go straight to a mt300?

How likely am I to ruin my paint? It's a new to me vehicle and don't want to ruin what is a pretty good condition body.

Any other tips on technique etc

    Thanks for the help

A proper dual action polisher will make a big difference in your detailing life. It will make your work much faster with less fatigue and better final results.
New generation dual action polishers are also very effective with paint defect removal. Of course you could apply most waxes/sealants with D/A as well.
It is almost impossible to damage car paint using this type of polishers and you can learn how to machine polish paint very quickly.

Even if you detail just a few times per year it is still worth the investment.

I would not hesitate and jump straight to a DA.

Once I used a DA to wax my cars...waxing by hand just seemed like work and not relaxing, at least for me

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I was looking into the mt300 but seems local store chain that used to sell it has discontinued it. I'm not aware of any other stores that sell it other then online. I'll have to look into it more.

I think "The Guz" is selling one...and for a really good price. Im sure he will be more then willing to discuss operations and handiness of the machine

Thanks for the link but getting it over the border will end up costing a like new price locally.
