  • Lubrication on G100?

    Hello,

I have a G100 that I just did some maintenance on (prompted by a power cord that had been bent sharply too many times and was shorting). Fixed the cord, blew the unit out with compressed air, and checked the brushes. They look plenty long, and the commutator looks clean. Does anyone know what lubrication is needed on these units? If I remember correctly the G100 is effectively a Porter Cable 7424. I know I could take it to Ace Hardware and have them take a look at it. But I'd prefer to save the money and do it myself if possible. I already looked online for a service manual for the Porter Cable 7424 but couldn't find one. All I could find was a user's manual that recommended taking it to an authorized Porter Cable repair center for them to lubricate it...thanks lol. I used to work on all sorts of machine so I'm quite comfortable taking it apart and lubing it. Just not sure what/if needs to be lubed.

    Thanks in advance!

I am familiar with the G100 & own one but Meguiar's did not offer repair on the tools, nor were we ever trained on maintenance, so we would also recommend taking the tool to a repair center.

Thanks for the response, Nick. I'm glad you're familiar with what unit I'm talking about since I know it is a little older. I'll definitely keep the repair center in mind if I can't find anything else out.
