  • Dual Action Polisher mt300 first timer seeking answers

Currently I have a black dodge ram and noticed alot of swirl/scratch marks on the exterior. Just few weeks ago my car was in the body shop for someone has hit my wife and kids from the back which we had to replace the back bumper and tail gate. Auto body shop did a detail in and out that i was surprised how shiny my paint was. They said not to detail it for 5 weeks and only allowed to wash and dry. For how shiny show room finish it looked i thought about doing it myself myself to keeping that shine although since owning the vehicle i've noticed those swirl/scratch marks. Seeking help on what else is needed to get along with the Dual Action Polisher. As i need to know which pads and products is recommended. Also there are few scratches on the side doors from the kids as they ride their bikes in garage. Steps would also be a big help. Ill be doing research on the forums. thanks

Re: Dual Action Polisher mt300 first timer seeking answers

With a little bit of research on proper technique, products, & pads, the use of a dual action polisher like our MT300 is actually easy to get used to to achieve & maintain a swirl free & protected paint finish.

Our MT300 Dual Action Polisher has a very ergonomic design, a wide range of speeds from 3000 all the way to 7500 OPM's, Digital Torque Management keeps the pad rotating under pressure for great cutting & finishing ability, along with our low profile Soft Buff DA Foam Discs, it is a great set up.

Our "Ultimate Trio" is one of our go to combinations & consists of our Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, and Ultimate Liquid Wax. You will want to pick up our 5 inch baking plate(DBP5) & for pads you will want at least one each of our Soft Buff DA Foam Discs, DFC5 5 Inch Soft Buff DA Foam Cutting Disc , DFP5 5 Inch Soft Buff DA Foam Polishing Disc, & DFF5 5 Inch Soft Buff DA Foam Finishing Discs.

The following below articles have some great technique recommendations, and others will likely chime in on their start up recommendations also:

Thanks for the reply. As for my steps:
      1. wash vehicle 2 bucket steps
      2. clay vehicle with ultimate detailer if needed
      3. buff with ultimate compound to remove swirls and water spots (since the auto body shop has already applied wax i was thinking of removing it and starting my own as i have ultimate paste wax from last year i rather apply. Does the ultimate compound remove wax or will that be the ultimate polish?)
      4. buff with ultimate polish followed by applying the paste wax?

Sorry big newbie here but if any of these steps 3 and 4 is in the wrong order please let me know. As of now i already have my pads, clay bar/quick detailer, ultimate paste wax. still searching for ultimate compound and polish locally. also i noticed that the hood of my car feels as if it has a much more rougher surface then being smooth like my doors and side exterior. appreciate the help!

A compound or polish will remove a wax or sealant. No need to use ultimate quik detailer with clay. It has been posted the ultimate quik detailer is to slick for claying thus not allowing the clay to do it's job in removing contaminants. It's best to use the quik detailer that comes with the clay kit.

Definitely revisit the How To Polish like a pro. It has a lot good information. But I will say the first thing you should do after claying is a test spot with the least aggressive combination. For example ultimate polish with a polishing pad. You can adjust your level of aggressiveness if you need more correction than a polish.

Ultimate wax would be your very last step.

Either way would be fine. It's all personal preference.
