  • Meguiars D108 is it safe to use on aluminum

    Help
I bought this to clean my engine and tires on a 1965 Corvette. I have been surfing and I have seen it could be a issue for the Finned aluminum valve cover and knock-off wheels. So I am slightly confused on whether its safe to use on this vehicle. Is this true and is there a technique I can use to protect those parts? or should I a different product?
Any help or directions would be greatly appreciated

    Hi Chuck,

Welcome to Meguiar's Online. Yes, D108 Super Degreaser does have the ability to stain a raw metal, especially an un-coated aluminum surface. All Purpose Cleaners can also stain aluminum. Moderately aggressive cleaners and aluminum unfortunately just don't go together. We might suggest using a car wash soap, & agitating with a soft bristled brush. Depending on the location of the parts & if they have a high polished look, you could follow up with a metal polish to further improve their appearance.

Hope this helps. Feel free to post further questions.
