We are happy to hear you had great results with the coating in our Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration kit, and again, this is the same product now available to purchase separately with a new name! Our products have a shelf life of 3 - 5 years & should not be exposed to prolonged extreme heat or cold.

Re: Meguiar's Keep Clear Headlight Coating

I ordered some of this and it should arrive this week... My main question is, did something get changed from the version that came with the Perfect Clarity 2 step package and this version of the spray? Because the directions used to say not to use on polished/smooth and even recommended against using on brand new headlights..

But now it's cool to use on brand new headlights? I really want to make sure about this before I accidentally alter the look of my brand new factory headlights.

        Eldorado2k,

We have tested both the Perfect Clarity & Keep Clear Coatings and confirmed they do not require a scuffed surface to adhere to. Michael Stoop's comment may have been very early on in the release of the original Perfect Clarity Headlight Restoration Kit.

We would remind you that with our Keep Clear Headlight Coating, it is important to apply to a clean & dry headlight.

Re: Meguiar's Keep Clear Headlight Coating

My new set of headlights came in this morning for my Mustang, and I immediately applied two coats of Keep Clear. Everything looks good! Since we're back to having heavy rain up here in Northern California, would it be recommended to wait the full 24 hour curing period before installing them on the car? I'm assuming it is, but I'm just double checking.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Post some pictures if you would like, we would be happy to see. And YES, let the coating cure for 24 hours before exposing to wet weather for best results.

Re: Meguiar's Keep Clear Headlight Coating

Here are a couple of edited (to help show the damage) photos of the current, 15 year old factory lights. The driver's side is actually worse than the pictured passenger side.

Here's one with the hood open where you can see a half/half:

Here's the new ones with two good coats of Keep Clear:

One tip I'd suggest would be to have a can of compressed air on hand to blow the lens off well after wiping it down. I cleaned the first lens and then quickly blew on it, but there was still some a couple of contaminants on the lens that were coated over. I spent a little extra time on the next to avoid the issue. All the dust on the lens in these pictures is on the surface after it had dried already. The coating is still tacky on the rubber trim piece, but hopefully it'll help out as the trim on the aftermarket lights tends to fail sooner than later.

I'm happy with the product thus far!

Just realized I haven't responded to this. Thanks for sharing! The lights look great!

Can this be used with an applicator, or must be sprayed directly on the surface?

Hey Murr. You may be interested in this kit as it comes with the liquid version of the coating.

i already have a full bottle of plastx.

should i buy the perfect clarity kit or can i use it on the headlights and then use the headlight coating?

moreover which is better or easier to use, the aerosol version (which is sold separately) or the liquid version contain in the headlight restoration kit (heavy duty)?

                            thanks

Thanks! It works well. Of course just ensure the surrounding paint surfaces are free of dust & any loose contaminants, and be gentle when laying over surrounding paint & removing.

Hi Murr, Absolutely must be sprayed directly on the surface, and then not touched. It lays down extremely well for an aerosol.

                                Hi Rhnos,

Plastx is used on an as needed basis to remove light oxidation. It really personal preference between the two. I have found many users like the aerosol and many like the wipe on version. There is not as much taping off with the wipe on version.

Our G17110 Headlight Protection pictured above was basically a synthetic sealant designed specifically for clear plastic. It is recommended to be applied every 6 - 8 weeks. Our G17804 Keep Clear Headlight Coating can last up to a full year, so the durability is much longer.
