Suggestion on Packaging

Suggestion....do not put your your professional products in the exact type and size and color packaging.

Example: Professional Wheel Cleaner and Final Inspection....

It's just too easy to quickly grab the bottle and use the wrong product. Like someone spraying their entire Porsche hood with wheel cleaner thinking it was Final inspection......now who would do that????

Einszett for example uses a differnt color can for all their various polishes and waxes, and different size and style bottles for their various other products......Meguiar's should too.

The story about the Wheel Brightener being applied to the hood of a Porsche... that didn't really happen did it?

Mike, I HOPE he's talking about the Professional Line wheel cleaner. Wheel Brightener would be a real ouch!

Yes...it just happened today in fact. I accidently picked up the wrong bottle and sprayed #36 Wheel Cleaner all over the hood of a freshly detailed and waxed Porsche hood

The hood now has a very dull and lifeless look after rinsing all the wheel cleaner off. I cannot tell you how stupid and frustrated I felt after doing that, but the bottle looks exactly like the #34 Final Detail spray bottle and they were right next to each other.


As a side note......I didn't ever order the #36 Wheel Cleaner and forgot i had it.....Meguiar's sent it by mistake in my last order which was supposed to include the #34 Final Inspection. So you see even the order fillers at Meguiar's can get the products confused.

It should hopefully be easy to fix with a re-waxing. #36 is incredibly mild. I often use it on my Klasse'd wheels and you can still feel the Klasse on there and see the beading afterwards.

If you were ever going to spray a wheel cleaner on your hood by accident, #36 is the one to do it with. But I agree with you totally. Especially with NXT bottles which all have overpowering graphics, the name of the product isn't noticeable. Many a time I've walked upstairs ready to spray NXT Booster on my tires when I realize I didn't grab the Tech Protectant...

All of the marine line comes in the same packaging too... you REALLY have to look at it. Think you grabbed the #59 Spray quik wax? Woops, grabbed the Non-Skid deck and hull cleaner/black streak remover. There goes all of the wax that I just put on it.

I think each line should have the same color packaging as it does, but the label should be different in appearance not just the words.

I always read the label to make sure I know what I am using, but it would be awsome if the color of the label was different or something, yet the plastic bottle was the same for each line.

How about a bunch of different colored tops for the bottles. It would be easy to tell one from another that way. Sort of like the Detailer line bottles. If I want APC, I grab the green bottle. Super Degreaser is red. Even if you broke the products down in to categories with the colors. Rubber/Vinyl, Metal/Wheels, Waxes, Polishes, etc.

I actually really like the fact that all the bottles are near enough identical - I think it gives a very professional look. Even though the bottle/label is the same, I find the number being bright yellow really makes it stand out, and that's what I always glance at when I select a product. I hear what you guys are saying though as I've picked up the wrong product before in the Autoglym range (whose bottles are all white except for the coloured square in the middle) - I went to grab my Fast Glass (purple) and ended up trying to clean my window with Convertible Roof Re-Proofer (an ever so slightly darker purple).

I like Mini-T's suggestion that maybe polishes could be in one colour bottle, glazes in another etc etc.
