I have the Porter Cable 7424 and Meguiars W64DA backing plate. My old Soft Buff 6.5" pads are needing replacement. Am I ok to use the newer Soft Buff DA Foam Polishing/Finishing pads in Disc - 6" MEG DFP6 with my current backing plate?

Really your best bet would be to get a 5 inch backing plate and start using Meguiars 5 inch pads.
The difference will transform the machine. I own a 7424 and use a 5/5 system, plus the 3 inch backing plate. I also own a Flex -

Agreed. Now is a good time to upgrade to a 5 inch backing plate and the 5" foam discs.Comment

The W64DA backing plate I currently have measures just shy of 5" inches. Am I not ok to continue with that and the 5 inch pads?Comment
