  • Cars of color ( balck )

I have spent 2 days working on a Porche Cayenne S and it is black. Full on paint correction, wash, nano padded ( Clay ), compounded ( M100 ), polished ( M 205 ), polished yet again ( M 80 old stock ), sealed ( #21 ) 16 hours later second coat ( 21 ). Started doing the final window cleaning and naturally I put my had on the paint and you could have taken my finger prints where I had my hand.

My question is, is there another step to do on the car to keep finger prints from showing up so easily. I was planning to do a final wipe down of last touch ( 155 ) or hyper ( 156 ) or is this how car of color ( black ) are?

    TIA

You are able to remove them, correct? How about just wiping the hand print area then doing one last final with D156. I mean black is going to show everything. I don't think there is anything that will keep finger prints from showing up on the paint if it's touched.

The prints come right off, non issue. My car is silver so from 5 feet away , all is good. I just do not have a car of color and thought I would as for opinions from those here that have more experience than I. Thank you for the response THE GUZ

Yeah I know exactly what you are referring to. I had similar experiences with my uncles black corvette as it shows everything compared to mine which are white and silver. Same thing for my dad's old car which was navy blue. It showed everything. I haven't come across anything other than wiping off fingerprints with detail spray or waterless wash.

It's just a dark coloured car thing.

Some would say it's a curse to see every mark- although if it's just finger prints left showing on the car it's of little concern touching up an area here or there with a spray detailer.

I've had black cars for so long now it's just become second nature dealing with such things.

One does not own a black car,...........it owns you. I have two in my garage, and they own me.

I have seen some persons, when performing the task of closing the door after exiting the vehicle, close the door using the handle on the inside, so as to not touch the paint. : )

So that was who was lurking in the shadows watching me?

Yep, I won't touch the paint or handles, but use the glass (not bordered), and not with my fingers. When I have passengers, it never fails that I have lots of greasy fingerprints to clean up
