  • Pictures from April 9th, 2016 Saturday 101 Class

A little rain in the forecast didn't stop us from having a great Saturday Detailing 101 Class.

We worked on a Metallic Black Toyota Camry which was loaded with defects. First up was to remove the light loose contaminants on the car with our Quik Detailer spray.

The car was quite rough to the touch after wiping it down so we used our Smooth Surface Clay Kit to remove the bonded contaminants.

After using a clay bar and inspecting the paint again under good lighting, this is the condition we were presented with.

Explaining the differences in a Rotary Polisher, our MT300 Dual Action Random Orbital Polisher, and the typical inexpensive "steering wheel" type orbitals.

Explaining the differences in our DFC5 5 Inch DA Foam Cutting Disc, DFP5 5 Inch DA Foam Polishing Disc, DFF5 5 Inch DA Foam Finishing Disc. The owner of the car asked if we were going to start with the yellow polishing disc, and I responded by saying we are going straight to the cutting disc for this level of defects, which made a good laugh for everyone.

Here we explained how we recommend using a DA Random Orbital Polisher with a compound, in small 2ft square sections at a time, horizontal and vertical, 50% overlapping motions.

    Moderate Pressure, Moderate Arm Speed

Ultimate Compound, DFC5, Speed 5800 OPMs, moderate pressure, moderate arm speed, 4 sections passes on our MT300 and this is the result just after the compound step.

Now the class attendants get a chance to try the machine.

This was our final result after Ultimate Compound w/DFC5, Ultimate Polish w/DFP5, and Ultimate Liquid Wax w/DFF5 on our MT300.

Thanks to everyone for coming out!
