  • Hello from uk!

Hi guys, I'm Adey and I'm from Plymouth!

Got a new car recently (2006 Focus zetec) and I decided want to learn more about car maintenance and care. After a lot of reading/watching videos online, Meguire's name just kept coming up, so I decided to buy some UC and UP (along with tonnes of cleaning gear!). Then my sister told me she had a variable speed rotary buffer under her stairs, and that I could have it! Awesome, but kinda throws a spanner in the works too, do I , a noob, attempt to use it, or do I get a DA too?

My car (metallic silver) does have some small chips, some down as far as the metal, which I will be attempting to repair with the Ford touch up kit, including wet/dry, compound and the whole shebang.
There is also some slight fogginess to one of the doors too, but over all, for 10 years old, the car scrubs up really quite well (being silver helps of course).

Once I get started I'll probably do some before and afters and make a thread, and hopefully you wont be witnessing a disaster!

    Cheers!

    Re: Hello from uk!

Hello, welcome to the forum, this is a great place to learn. Congrats on the new car! UC and UP are great products. I would suggest getting a DA if you can, a rotary is a bit more difficult to learn and if you have no experience with it I would leave it alone for now and go with a DA. As for the chips I don't have a lot of experience with that but I heard silver is a very difficult color to match or blend, the best advise I could give you is to read a lot, watch videos and ask there's a lot of people willing to contribute and above all the most valuable tool you have is common sense, use it. Good luck with the chips. I look forward to your thread.

Welcome to Meguiar's Online Forum. Feel free to contact me with any forum navigation questions. We would recommend checking out the following below link thread, it can help a lot to understand how different machines works. Also, none of our consumer products are recommended or designed to be used with a rotary polisher, including Ultimate Compound & Ultimate Polish. If you are going to use the rotary, you would want to look to our Professional Mirror Glaze Line of products.
