I was supposed to have this done about a week ago, and I've actually had the pics sitting ready to go for this. Just haven't had much time. Looks like Guz beat me to it. I'll see if I can provide some additional insight to the product.
Anyways. On to the product review:
Packaging:
The product comes with a foam applicator pad.
Ultimate Leather Balm has the consistency of a soft paste wax. It smells like Pina colada, but isn't overpowering.
I cleaned up the leather on this door card with D181 and a MF towel. This didn't give me a chance to test out the cleaning ability of the product, as I like to use a clean surface when reviewing leather conditioner/dressing types of products. This prevents any issues from previous products interfering.
Before:
After:
I decided to lay down a bit of tape and do a comparison for the review. Ultimate Leather Balm VS D180. I laid down both products with separate applicators, waited a few minutes, then buffed off any excess product. Here are the results.
D180 clearly has more of a darkening affect. I feel Ultimate Leather Balm has a richer look without the darkening.
Ultimate Leather Balm feels more supple to the touch. Even more so after a couple of days on these door cards that seem to drink up leather conditioner like it is no ones business.
As Guz stated in his review, a little product goes a long way. From the picture below you can tell I barely skimmed the surface after doing two door cards.
Final thoughts:
Ultimate Leather Balm is a solid product. The fact that this product comes in a small container shouldn't keep you away from it. I am guessing I will get more use out of it than a standard 16oz bottle of a traditional leather conditioner. There was less of a chance to waste product in the application process.
It left my leather feeling soft and supple and didn't have as extreme of a darkening affect as D180, which could go either way depending on preference.
A nice addition to the Ultimate Line. And I am a big fan of the application process. Way less wasted product and less of a mess.
My original plan was to use my CC for this review, but the wonderful Colorado weather had different plans for me. (It went from 60F Saturday morning, to 25F in the afternoon and then snow)
Once this foot of snow melts I will do a follow up with that car. For now it is buried.
