American Hot Rod, Euro Exotic, Import Tuner - this TNOG had it all!

This '32 Ford Coupe was our featured car of the night as we helped the owner prep it for the upcoming Cruisin' For A Cure show at the OC Fairgrounds in two weeks time.

It might have looked good from a distance, but up close it definitely had some needs. After a bit of experimenting we settled on D300 on microfiber pads followed by M205 on foam finishing pads.

With the guys hard at work on the Hot Rod, we turned our attention to another beauty....

... an '80s icon, the Ferrari Testarossa. Again, from a distance she looks pretty terrific.

Up close, however, there were all sorts of problems.

These didn't look like rotary holograms exactly, but they were really horrible and all through the hood of the car.

And swirls. Lots and lots of swirls.

We assumed that this car had single stage paint given it's age and the fact it wears it's original pigment coat from the factory. As it turns out, it is indeed single stage. So we opted for a light touch at first, and it turned out that Ultimate Compound on a yellow foam polishing pad with the MT300 knocked out all the defects really fast, but the very soft and delicate paint showed some definite haze. A quick follow up with M205 on black foam, however, finished off beautifully. With that, we put the owner to work just to get him comfortable with the process so he could finish the car off at home.

    Much better!!

Half a Ferrari flat 12 engine. Testarossa means "red head" in Italian, and you can plainly see the red valve covers on the car that give their name to the model.

This Toyota Supra belongs to a friend of the Ferrari owner, and it, too, wears single stage black paint. The same process will be a good starting point for this car, and these two friends should have a good time working on these beauties together.

Meanwhile, the guys continued on with the '32 Ford.

More swirls, this time in a Hyundai Veloster.

A little tape to keep things clean and they're ready to polish.

A quick hit with the microfiber system and everything cleaned up really fast and easy. No haze, no struggles to remove defects - just paint that was super cooperative to work on!

The '32 Ford finished up beautifully, with nary a swirl in sight!

    Group shot!

All ready to attend Cruisin' For A Cure.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and helping with this beauty of a Hot Rod!!
