So, after washing the loose contaminants from the hood we clayed it. Yep, it needed to be clayed!
First time clay users.... yep, it really is that easy!
Smooooooth......but still swirled. Clay only removes above surface contaminants, remember, and does nothing for below surface defects like these swirl marks.
MT300, DFC5 and Ultimate Compound. That ought to do the trick!
Make sure to keep your pad flat against the paint as the body panel slopes away from you!
Gather round and see the shiny paint!!
Let's prime a DMC5 microfiber pad with some D300 and see how that compares to foam and UC, shall we?
Out in direct sunlight for the harshest viewing conditions.
This is the foam/UC side.... looks like a RID or two still hanging around, but that's no problem. The level of correction is huge here, in a single go!

This is actually nice technique given how the hood creates a "V" as you move the left in this image. Rather than bridge across the "V" and not be able to correct the bottom of that shape, attack it from both sides instead even if that means getting this bit of cantilever on this side. With proper pressure and angle you still keep the pad spinning so you keep correcting to a high level.
