  • What's up from Winston-Salem

What's up? Looking to find out more about these wonderful products from Meguiars. I currently have the wax and clean anywere (haven't used yet), cleaner wax, quik wax products. I ride a motorcycle and am don't have a water hose or wash area. Right now I'm using a technique where I use spray bottles with water, water & palmolive, detailer, polish on chrome and wax on paint. I spray on water with palmolive, dab with clean cloth. Spray with clean water and dab. Then I apply detailer and then wax. I only dab to get the pollen and light dirt off. I do park my bike outside my apartment with a pretty thick cover. I only dab to clean and clean section by section. I buff very lightly with a brief passover of the area to avoid scratches. Waxing and polishing, still trying to figure this one out to avoid the scratches. I was told Chrome polished in one direction only. Nice to meet everyone.

      Welcome to MOL!

Ditch the water and dish soap routine and pick up some Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere. The process will be similar but this is a waterless wash, not just a soap, so it microencapsulates the dirt and adds far more lubrication than plain old soap could ever hope to do. Plus it leaves a nice polymer protection and shine on the surface and it's safe to use on any and all surfaces.

        Thanks Michael,

I have been looking at the Meguiars forum for a while and decided to join. Absolutely great products!

Question, so no water or soap?

The process I was advised was to avoid scratches and because I don't have access to a water hose or leaf blower is:

        (1) rinse the bike with water and dab (not rub) to remove dirt, dust, pollen
        (2) spray on mix of water and 1-2 drops palmolive and dab (not rub) with clean cloth to remove dirt, dust, pollen - due to the soap lifting the remainder of surface items.
        (2) saturate a section with detailer and dab (not rub) with a clean cloth or microfiber to trap the dirt and add a bit of polish

The only thing I'm confused about is how do I polish chrome and wax body of bike without scratching. Like how do you dab on the Meguiars 365 protectant and dab it off. Doesn't it say it doesn't have to be rubbed or no buffed. How do I do that.

Really, I'm trying to just keep my bike clean as waterless as possible as I have no hose or leaf blower.

my other difficulty is what to do with the tires and wheels. Is there a waterless product by Meguiars I can use to clean both the wheels, breaks area, and tires?

        Thanks in advance!

Also I park my bike outside at my apartment complex with a simple cover and then a heavier waterproof cover over top of that one. I'm just trying fight this war of preventing rust and corrosion. There is a guy in my complex who has a beautiful touring BMW motorcycle and the pipes have completely rusted over. Everytime I ride by it I shake my head. But then again, he as well as a guy with a Honda fury and another guy with a Harley 883 sportster neither cover their bikes and let them just sit out in the elements and rain. I cringe when I see it all the time. But then again, people call me the detail guy because I'm always out at my bike polishing and dabbing and making sure it covered. I need a garage asap. May go with a motorcycle shelter soon before I make any further upgrades to my bike. I have a VT1300 Stateline.
