  • Gold Class Rich Leather/Vinyl CLEANER

Why is it that when I look for this product at Meguiar's.com, it's not there, but it is in the stores?

I just bought a bottle in preparation for two details, both with leather interiors, one tan the other brown. To test it, I tried in in my wife's Explorer on the driver's inside door handle which is a rubbery texture and had a ton of ground in greasy dirt. I gave a light spritz directly to the handle and agitated it with a toothbrush. The gunk dissolved and came off in less than a minute, even in the cracks and lines of the texture. Then I used it on my wife's check book. It's made of a cheap non-coated leather that was supposed to be tan, but was now black/brown from use and age. A few spritzes a little bit of agitation with the toothbrush and now the check book is a white/cream color. The crud came right off. This stuff is awesome.

I really hope that the fact that I can't find it on Meguiar's website means that it's been discontinued, that would be a real shame. I'm hoping that it's something new and hasn't been added to the site yet.

    *EDIT*

OK, I found it, but I had to do a search of all of Meguiar's, how come this stuff is hidden?

So I found out, it's far better than even the gel version of GCRALC I used several years ago. The gel did well, but it was messy and didn't work on vinyl like this stuff does.

Don, we're not sure why you had such a hard time finding this product on our website as it's in the correct area:

If you hover on "Car Care Products" from the top menu, then select "Car Care" from the resulting drop down menu you are taken to this page:

Circled in yellow is the "Interior" section, which includes both "Leather" and "Vinyl/Rubber" as subsections. Selecting "Leather" returns this page:

And there it is. Now, if you were to select "Vinyl/Rubber" instead of "Leather" you'd get a different mix of products, but this product is still included in the page.

As for the effectiveness of this product, it is indeed pretty terrific stuff. But, it's a dedicated cleaner and not a cleaner/conditioner so it should come as no surprise. Any time you mix two or more steps into a single bottle you have to compromise something, and in leather cleaner/conditioners it's always the cleaning ability that gets shorted. That's all fine and well if you're dealing with new leather or leather in very good condition, but once it's been soiled heavily a dedicated cleaner is the way to go.

Thanks Mike, I guess I wasn't paying attention to the search options on the side of the page, but the important thing is I found it in the store! Now I'm prepared for the two leather interiors I have coming up.
