  • Need 02 Fine-cut cleaner explained please

How does fine cut cleaner compare to 205 and does fine cut need to be followed up by anything? Also whats the best type of pad to use with it? I received a full
assortment of Lake Country ccs pads for my birthday. Ive got a black car that either has hard water stains or acid rain marks.. Thanks.
    Will be applying with DA

M02 is an old-school "diminishing abrasive" product that is ranked slightly more aggressive than M205 on the scale. IMO, it will not finish as well as M205, as it was paired with M09 as the final step back when BC/CC paints were first introduced. Again IMO, it is more suited to rotary use than D/A. I've been using it since the 80's, but I much prefer the M105/205 or UC/UP combos with a D/A. If you already have some, give it a try, but you may need a fairly coarse pad to accomplish your goals on harder paints. If you're new to machine polishing, I'd recommend picking up a bottle of UC at your local store. It's very user-friendly and both the level of cut and the finish clarity can be manipulated by your pad choice. Normally on most paints, I'll start UC with an orange pad, as it removes all but severe defects and finishes well enough on harder clears that a mild polish or even a cleaner wax is all you need to finish. Save the yellow pad for spot treatment on areas that need more severe correction.

      Bill pretty well nailed it.

Bottom line, if you're working on a car with a modern clear coat (ie, anything built after roughly 1990 or so) do yourself a favor and go with M205 as a finishing/refining polish. M02 was fine in its day but it's very much an old school product. Paints are much more high tech these days - go with a high tech product on them.

I have to agree with Billy and Michael. I used M02 with a rotary years ago. I used it on a Porter Cable with green ccs pads and didn't quite get the cut or finish that I thought I would. Even stepping up to the orange did little to improve things. I had better results with SwirlX.
