    g220v2 problems

    Hi,
Hope someone can help. I've just got my polisher(g220v2 / g110v2) out after a good 5 months to correct some motorcycle panels. Problem is when I turn the machine on I'm getting an erratic power delivery. The motor might spin full speed for a few seconds then stops. If I turn it off-on same thing happens. Sometimes I get no motor spin at all. The speed control wheel does not do anything to the speed of the motor. I've kept the polisher in doors so its not a moisture problem. Brushes are mint as the machine has only done 10 hours max use. Could anyone point me in the right direction. Are there any know problems with this unit ?
    Thanks jon

You could give customer a call, tell them what's going on with your polisher and go from there.

    Re: g220v2 problems

Update on my G220 v2. Contacted Meguiar's here in the UK and then sent the polisher off to be tested and checked. Had a phone call back saying they can not test it as the 3 pin plug had some cracks in the plastic and one of the poles was slightly bent. I have received the polisher back and have now replaced the plug which was in no way faulty. So I now have to resend the polisher back to be checked over. Losing faith rapidly.

Update on my G220 V2. What a complete waste of time the UK help centre is. After sending my polisher back to be tested with a new plug fitted they now say because its been altered from original and void off any help. This G220 polisher is a complete rip off and not fit for purpose. Most electrical items these days have a 3 year warranty but this cheap rubbish has one year. 10 hours of use for

    Re: g220v2 problems

    I had the same exact
problem. When I called Meguiars they seemed to not care and kept telling me the product is 3 years old and out of warranty, sorry bout your luck.
After about a wasted hour of troubleshooting I found the cord was bad where they crimped it going into the unit. I cut the wire off and re-spliced it into the buffer and the problem is gone.
Very low grade cord. I only used it 6 times. Symptoms were exactly as you described above.
When I called Meguires is sounded like they were having an office party in the background, laughing and giggling
The guy sounded like he was on a wireless headset and decided to walk away from his job to go to the office party instead of helping a customer in need. The very same customers that bought him his pretty new office business shirt !!! I was totally enraged by his replies. He sounded like a newbie or just another employee who could give a care less. Needless to say I hung up on him.
Very disappointed in Meguiars for letting me down.
I am posting this so others with the same problems can fix their machine and get back to work and not waste their time calling Meguiars and getting disrespected like I did. I will never forget that call and will not rely on any help from them again after getting disrespected like I did when I was in a bind.
I am the hard working American out here trying to make an honest living while some guy in a nice new business suit is having an office party and doesn't have the time to help the people that make his paycheck !!

I has a simular issue with my V1. It was only when I got the (US team) Mike Stoops involved it got replaced FOC to a V2.

Hence I only read & post on the US forum.
