  • My Planned Regime?

    Hi Folks
My first post and already asking questions.
I have a 2014 Ram, Black Gold CC, paint is in what I would call very good shape. From what I have gathered in my many hours of lurking, I have come up with a planned regime as follows:
    Wash
    Clay
Ultimate Polish (PC & LC white 5.5" CCS pads)
Black wax -LC black CCS pad with PC (this may be redundant?)
Ultimate paste wax - LC Black (Blue?) Pad with PC
    UQW and UQD as maintenance

I have LC orange CCS pads and Ultimate Compound as well if I need them, although I will try it with the whites first, if need be.

I do not actually have the UPW yet, slightly undecided as I have seen many references on here to streaking and other issues, but I think these have for the most part been in reference to ULW. Any hints on ULW use, as I have not seen the UPW in any stores locally yet?

The truck is a daily driver, but I am still a little OCD (OK, major OCD) with how it looks.
Will try to get pics once I figure out how to upload them

    Thanks for your help

    Re: My Planned Regime?

I'd just pick one wax or the other... 2 coats of Black Wax, or 2 of Ult. Wax.

As far as streaking, one, usually it comes down to applying too thick of a coating. You want a very thin coating with Ult. Wax, so there basically is no residue to wipe off. And when wiping off, I like a damp cloth, or spritz of water then wipe with cloth. Kind of like removing RainX.....

You can also use the sun... dont work in a cool damp area, just work in the sun, assuming it isnt 80deg there yet... that helps the wax set up and not streak.

Ultimate Polish/Black Wax/Ultimate Wax is indeed being redundant. Black Wax is great as a stand alone product, but if you're putting in the time and looking for max gloss, then using BW after UP is just a duplication of effort. If UP corrects everything that you want it to then you should be good with stepping straight to Ultimate Wax. If UP does not remove all the defects you want gone, then you may need to use Ultimate Compound first, then UP, then Ultimate Wax.

Thanks for the quick response. I like the look of black wax, but I suspect longevity may not be that of UW?
