  • Did Ultimate Black (liquid) get a formula tweak?

Mr. Stoops, this question is for you. I was at my local pep boys and took a stroll through the car care aisle and this caught my eye.

Did ultimate black get a formula tweak to enhance it's durability? If so that would be fantastic.

Side by side with another bottle.

That would be great if it did!

I've tried it (the original Ultimate Black) on my Jeep Wrangler and didn't find it to be long lasting at all where I live. We get rain a few days a week here and the only thing that really seems to have staying power is Black Wow, Black Wow Pro and black paint. I hope the product has been enhanced,it would be nice if someone came up with a competitor to Black Wow that's more affordable, more available and with a less goofy name.
Doing the best I can with what I've got.

Yes, it has been tweaked, primarily due to some things we discovered while making the new aerosol version, Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer. Prep is still very important in order to get it to bond properly, but once that's done it's super easy to apply and it won't just wash off the first time it gets wet... or the second, or third..... Now, the aerosol is probably more durable overall, but for some areas an aerosol isn't all that easy to use and a lotion just works better.

I forgot to post this the other day. I picked up a fuel filter for my car and I saw the new and old version on the shelf. I opened up the bottle of the new one and the old one. The scent is still the same but the color is different. The newer version is white in color while the older version is a cream color. Consistency appears to be the same. Figured I would post this just in case someone wonders why they appear different in color.

Picked some of this up the other day. Was looking for the aerosol version, but the parts store didn't have it so I just grabbed this instead to try out.

Any reason this shouldn't be used on interior panels? Obviously not on leather, but vinyl dash/door panels etc? I did a test spot and haven't see any short term issues. The product leaves a nice dry surface, which is a plus in my book.

On the exterior I have this applied to the rear bumper, and blackfire trim sealant as my control on the front bumper to see how long this lasts on a car that sits outside 24/7 and lately we've seen rain almost every day.

It can be used in the interior as well. Other than the delivery system it's pretty close to ultimate protectant.

I figured it might last longer and seems to have less shine than ultimate protectant.

It will last longer than ultimate protectant. The old version of ultimate black lasted a little over a month when I did a side by side comparison another piece of trim that I let sit outside and I would wash periodically. I'm curious to see how much longer this new tweaked version will last.

I agree that it is not as shiny as ultimate protectant or the aerosol version of ultimate black.
