Our first TNOG of 2015, and it was all about using the MT300 on BMW roadsters. Funny how things like that happen!

The owner of this blue Z4 wanted to get rid of the swirls but he also wanted to see what soft of difference in final appearance he might get between Ultimate Wax and the classic combination of M07/M26.

The guys sort of tag teamed the hood, using the new DFC5 foam cutting disc with Ultimate Compound to remove the defects.

We followed that up with M205 on the yellow DFP5 foam polishing disc.

We then applied Ultimate Wax liquid to one half of the hood, and the combo of M07/M26 on the other. In this light, well...... nobody could really see a huge difference. Which, more than anything, just goes to prove that wax alone tends to impart a pretty subtle appearance to the finish. It might be different in direct sunlight, but given that all this gloss really came from the Ultimate Compound/M205 combination you begin to see why wax selection is a pretty personal choice.

This is the result of a backyard paint job and some less than perfect wet sanding.

Before just diving in with some additional wet sanding, we opted for some M100 on a microfiber cutting pad with the MT300. It made a huge difference, but there were still issues that required some more advanced processes.

So we hit one area with a 3000 grit DA finishing disc just to refine things out a bit more.

We then removed the sanding marks with M100 and a DMC5 microfiber foam cutting disc on the MT300. This is waaaay better, but if we were to really go after the best finish we could with this paint job (considering the shrinkage in the primer and other issues) we would most likely give it a pass with a 1500 grit finishing disc, then refine that quickly with 3000 grit and then buff it out. Odds are the outcome would be fantastic, especially considering this was a backyard paint job!

Some new toys and advanced techniques this time? Great stuff!

We really need these nights in Australia.

Can't believe I forgot!!! Looks like everyone had a great time though. I totally thought it was this week and was all ready for it too. I'll make sure to put the next one in my calendar.
