    Hi!

Well, I'm not a real newb, but I never worked with clearcoat before.
Here goes the story : After spraying the car approx 4 weeks ago, I have flatted down the paint ( up to 2000 grit wet and dry), and now i'm trying to polish the scratche sout.

However, I keep ending up with swirls no matter what I do!
    So far I used a basic ( 5

    Welcome to MOL!

Any chance you're composing your post in Word or some other word processing program and then attempting to copy/paste here? We ask because it appears your message has been cut off, and this version of vBulletin doesn't like certain special characters imported in from other editors.

What pads, liquids and tool are you using to remove the sanding marks? Technique can be hugely important here.

If the pictures would cause the problem, here is a tekst-only version :

            Re: Noob compounding a car

Hmm, my posts don't show up.

I have used various things. I tried simoniz polish, ultimate compound ( meguiars) and last : meguiars 105.
I use a hand applicator pad, and I still end up with scratches ( I sanded the car with 2000 grit).

Any hints on what to do? Any special pads to use etc?

            thanks

Go over the whole thing with 3000 grit and maybe even 5000 if you are doing it by hand and can't get the scratches out. Then hit it with m105 followed by m205.

                  Re: Noob compounding a car

Thanks, will try it. Will have to order the sandpaper on ebay though. As I don't think belgian shops stock it.
How should the car look after the 105?
