  • New to detailing

Hello everyone. I would like to start detailing my Black 2012 Nissan altima coupe.. has lots of swirls and minor scratchs and some small dents. I just bought ultimate compound, ultimate polish, and ultimate liquid wax, and planning on using ultimate wash and wax as step one. Wanted to stay with the whole meguiars ultimate series. Thanks for reading.

If ur gonna compound and polish then u dont wanna use a soap with wax in it such as ultimate wash and wax. It doesn't really hurt anything but when u compound it will strip what little wax was applied with the wash. But more importantly I suggest that after ur wash step two would be to use meguiars clay bar kit. This will remove containaments and prep the paint for compounding and polish

Sounds like you are on the right track with those products. I most definitiely agree aboout the clay though...

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

          welcome

Definitely agree on the claying recommendation. Makes a huge - I believe necessary step - for any correction.

Remember you dont need to stick with one series, product line for everything.

If detailing becomes something you enjoy often, you will likely find you get the best results/price with a variety of things.
