I haven't done anything yet with my steamer. lol. I did realize on the Tahoe as it was the first vehicle I did with the steam and its leather and everything else in it was filthy, I realized I didn't need much pressure on the leather. My biggest thing I had to be careful with on the leather was to a.) not be in a spot for too long, getting a spot too hot, and b.) make sure the bristle's weren't poking out of the towel to damage the hot supple leather. Now, that was before I had gotten D101 and was still using Simple Green. But, I have not come across any open spot like that.
