  • question about MF pads

i just starting using the MF Da system

started with the pink compound cutting product and i noticed that after my first 2 by 2 pass all the fibers are flat on the cutting pad

do i need to use a brush on it after every 2 by 2 pass?

or is it ok to reapply to a flat fibered pad and move on??
    thanks

    Re: question about MF pads

You want to fluff the fibers back. So a brush or compressed air would be good. Compressed air is what I recommend. You want to fluff the fibers before working a new area.

        Re: question about MF pads

You still have to clean foam pads. Working clean gives better results. The brush works fine on MF.

If the compound is hard to remove you are over working it. I see you are in florida so take the surrounding environment (temp, humidity) as a factor.

These work really well. Still can't beat the price.

The only thing I can think of is that D300 is being overworked and that is making it difficult to remove. Try less passes.

Constant cleaning goes a long way! It also sounds like you are using too much, only a few light drops in the corners will work fine.

                Re: question about MF pads

Compounds and polishes should not dry on the paint. Less passes or smaller areas are recommended. A spray bottle of water can help if worked too long or conditions create an issue ( a light mist )

Do yourself a huge favor and read through this article on proper use of the DAMF System. While the basic process is the same as for foam, there are certain tweaks to that process that must be followed in order to maximize results. The DAMF System is a fantastic addition to your DA arsenal, but it must be used properly in order to realize its potential. In all honesty, the only people we hear about who don't like the system are the people who are using it wrong. Once they realize their errors and start using it correctly, their attitude changes rather quickly.

                        Re: question about MF pads

thanks for the replys, i read the articles, and watch the autogeeks video with mike stoops on the product and followed instructions

i still have a few times when it seems like the product almost holograms it self on to the paint and it becomes so hard to remove where i really have to press hard with the mf cloth. It gives debris like its a pencil eraser

in terms of scratch removal....not so much, maybe the scratches i have are too deep,
i have half a bottle of fg400 menzerna someone gave me, i might try that

tomorrow ill work on the sides of the car and try to keep honing my techiniques..probably sunday will start the wax phase

I'm a professional detailer and I love the microfiber system. I have seen that microfiber will give u a better cut then a foam pad but it's worth it. Its a little more work. But If the correction compound is coming off pretty tough u can just put a little of it on. Also u can go over with it with da finishing wax n it will come off easy. Then take a brand New microfiber towel n wipe off follow it will another new microfiber towel with last touch or quick detail to make sure all wax n compound is off

                            Re: question about MF pads

It sounds like you could be using too much product. When working with foam pads it is typical that a bead of product in either an "X" pattern on the pad or a ring of product toward the edge of the pad is used. If you continue to do that with the microfiber pads you'll be using far, far too much product. Once the pad is primed properly all you need for working a section is three little pea sized drops of product. Any more will not give you more cut or a better finish, but could make the whole process more difficult. Back way down on the product you're using, work the product until it's just a thin film on the surface, and it should wipe off with extreme ease.
