  • Clear Coat Body Scrub - Gone but any Successor?

I used to have a product in my inventory called Clear Coat Body Scrub.

Now, I can't find this stuff anywhere. It was fantastic at taking deep grime off of light colored paint. Is there a successor to this legendary little bottle?

I used that stuff too. It was great in the days BC (before clay). I hate to mention it, since it's not a Meguiar's product, but Duragloss 501 Marine Cleaner & Polish is the best cleaner I've used so far. Works great on making white paint "whiter".

Probably the most similar product would be from the Mirror Glaze line, #83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish... but in either case both the Body Scrub and M83 are "old technologies" by today's standards.

If you are using a clay bar or clay bar alternative (and if you're not using at least one of the two, you should be), then pick up either Ultimate Compound/Ultimate Polish or M105/M205 locally.

Wise words from a man who knows his stuff (how you doin' buddy?!?!).

If memory serves, Clear Coat Body Scrub predates Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner although there was some overlap in production. The Body Scrub was a bit more aggressive than DCPC but it was discontinued a long, long time ago. Even DCPC has been put to pasture, replaced with the far more modern technology of SwirlX and Ultimate Compound. These are based on D151 and M105 respectively and will do a far better job of not only deep cleaning the paint and bringing lighter colors back to their original brilliance, but they can also be used to remove swirls and other such defects. Heck, from a cleaning standpoint, White Wax will outperform DCPC and Body Scrub - it will also out clean SwirlX ) and leave some decent wax protection behind at the same time!

Really? Is that a typo Mike?

D151 is a cleaner-wax, as you know. Perhaps you meant to say WW is based on D151?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Nope, not a typo. Remember, "based on", not "the same thing". D151 is indeed a cleaner wax and it was designed to be very versatile, with application ranging from wool pad/rotary buffer to foam finishing pad/DA buffer. That formulation was, for lack of a better phrase, "toned down" a bit and the protection was taken out, to create SwirlX. Heck, just look at the incredibly thick consistency of both products - that's pretty unique in our line up, but shared by D151 and SwirlX.

Oh man! I might still have half a bottle in the basement somewhere of the Body Scrub!

I assembled a small "road kit" to do friends cars away from home. SwirlX is my paint cleaner/polish component of that kit, paired with an orange ccs, or hex logic pad. They're excellent products!

Well I lied I thought I had 3 bottles, just 2, also 2 extra tins of 16 and an old tin of #19 cleaner/wax a friend sent me a while back. And the box is from 2003.

Anyway here's the pic Eldorado, better late then never!
