Correct; you apply the aerosol UV coating right over the finish that results from the cleaning process.

Clever boy! Yes, there is a direct similarity between M317 and the cleaner in this product. Of course, we also include a very specific cleaning pad with this whereas a body shop will vary the scrub pad used with M317 based on preferences, the task at hand, etc.


For anyone wondering how in the world you can scrub/scuff the lens and then simply spray the coating without buffing out the finish first: Some of the very high end (ie, expensive) headlight restoration processes involve sanding the degraded headlight with whatever grit is needed to start, and work your way down to 3000 grit, then spray a UV coating to protect. It is this sort of tech that we've based this on, and the level of clarity achieved is extremely high and far more durable than typical sand and polish processes. As you can well imagine, and many of you have probably experienced, once you've cut that factory UV coating from the lenses they tend to subsequently degrade rather quickly. This kit essentially gives you a clear coat spray with heavy UV screening so durability of the repair is pretty terrific. You are, quite literally, spray painting the headlights with a UV protective clear coat.

Now, for you guys - and by that we mean MOL members who tend to be pretty savvy when it comes to all things detailing - the process can be taken a bit further if you so desire. Grab your DA buffer/sander and use the most aggressive sanding disc you need in order to cut through the oxidation on the lenses. Use progressively finer sand paper until you finish out with 3000 grit. Now apply the UV coating. Fantastic!!!

How many headlights could this do? Is this for Professionals or more for consumers?

You should be able to correct headlights on two cars with this kit. And this is most definitely geared for consumers, not the pro market. Very simple to use with great results that actually last a year or more.

Mike, what about us detailers ? We would need a much larger kit. At least a bigger can of the spray sealant since most of us have sanding supplies already.

We'll certainly pass that along to R&D......who knows, if we see enough demand for the UV spray alone, and in larger containers, we just might bring it out.

Would it be possible to use these pads/system on a Meg's DA (220v2) with the small backing (S3BP) plate by any chance?

No, this is a hand application only process. If you prefer to use a DA then your best bet will be to sand with the appropriate grit media and then finish with the UV coating.

I think that would be a fantastic Ideal!!!! Getting ready to start using clear spray after sanding to see how much better my headlight restorations look with spray's instead of spending 15+ minutes from polishing out
