    Cool photo!

Was there supposed to be more?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

That's gotta be 1 of the best detail related photos I've ever seen

Is it true reflections like that can only be achieved after wetsanding?

Yep. In order to get a reflection that crisp the paint has to be totally and completely devoid of orange peel, and the only way to really get that is by wet sanding. Problem is, most factory clear is not thick enough to allow you to do this with complete safety so we don't recommend it.

Cory, just curious, what was your sanding process on the truck and do you know how much paint you took off?

If the lowest point of the clear coat is enough to protect the car then if you sand to that point and no further then you car will look its best and still be protected.
The secret is to never sand any more than the lowest point of the clear coat. See illustration at glossycar.com

Very true... but for the novice, knowing when they've hit that spot is the tricky part, the part that comes with experience. Which sanding media you use, how you use it, etc all come into play. And don't forget, if the color coat had some texture to it the clear will hide that - either under it's own texture or if it's sanded flat. What you can never know is where a potential high spot in the color coat meets a potential low spot in the clear. The resulting film could still be extremely thin. We've seen plenty of factory paint jobs that were sanded very flat by highly experienced people..... but you know how some guys are; they see something on YouTube and they think it's a piece of cake.
