This past Saturday was the 1st Annual Autopalooza Presented by Detailing.com and it was quite an event. Below is a sampling of some the cars shown at the event, and a very eclectic mix it was - hot rods, classics, customs, and even some very nice older stock vehicles were present. The weather was sunny and SoCal hot, but everyone had a great time.
The event took place at the Great Park in Irvine, CA on the sight of the former El Toro Marine Air Station, with event central being inside one of the hangars. The large balloon has become a bit of a landmark in Irvine in recent years, and it runs up some 400' on a tether to give a great view of Orange County.
We also conducted a few seminars, this one on both the DA Power System and the DA Microfiber Correction System. We got a pretty good crowd of enthusiasts, including some recognizable faces from our own TNOG sessions and Saturday Classes!
One car really stood out above all the rest, however, and that car was presented with the Best of Show award, presented by Barry Meguiar. Owned by Tom Lopes of Orange County, CA, this 1932 Ford Roadster was amazing in so many ways. All of the wiring and even the fuel, heater and A/C lines are routed through the frame rails for an incredibly clean look. The car even has all the modern luxury amenities you might want in a daily driver: heated seats, power windows, power seats, A/C, an iPod adapter, etc. That it's powered by a 575HP Donovan aluminum block 427 cubic inch V8 just makes it all that much more fun! But look at the paint on this baby - it's about as perfect as it gets, and we were thrilled to learn that Tom prepped the car himself using our G110v2 dual action polisher, Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and finished off with Ultimate Wax paste. Amazing!
This car made for some pretty amazing reflection shots............
Check this out... the little bit of the tire you see in the lower right is the actual tire, everything else is reflection. Yowza!
Speaking of the perfection of the paint, take a look at this shot in direct sunlight. You can't hide swirls in this light.... this paint is beyond reproach. Nice work, Tom!!
