  • Help with clean coat thickness

Hi I bought audi a4 b7 black now these a lot swirl mark all over car I was going to buy paint thickness tester before I buff the car but paint tester only show total mount of paint on car no just clear coat what would be guide figure for clear coat on cars

Generally speaking, most modern cars with factory paint have a clear coat between 1.0 - 2.0mils (about as thin as a post-it note). A Maximum of .5 mils can be removed. Remove any more than .5 mils and you risk going through your clear coat.
