  • Hi there

    Hello forumites,

I just joined the forum and am stopping by to say hello. I have used Meguiar's products faithfully for the last 19 years, starting with my 1995 Mustang Cobra (in Rio Red), which I am fortunate to still have in storage. I put nearly 200,000 miles on that one, and unfortunately even with regular care the hood, roof, and deck lid have the beginning signs of clear coat failure. Meguiar's Ultimate Compound worked wonders on that one before it went in storage 2 years ago, but when I get the time and money to restore it it will probably need repainting.

I currently drive an '02 Audi A4 3.0Q in Dolphin Gray, and the wife drives an '05 Nissan Pathfinder in Black. Life circumstances caused me to have little time for finish maintenance for a few years, and it shows. We plan on keeping these cars a while longer, and in the past couple of years I have been trying to undo some of the damage my neglect caused. It has been fun trying new products and seeing some success, but I've finally found the need to come here for some pro advice.

Anyway, I look forward to learning some new things here and contributing when I can!

Hello Dolphin Gray and welcome to MOL.
With little time to devote, keep in mind that Meguiars offers many fine products that are made for folks who can't devote several hours every month to detailing.
Example: Cleaner Wax in the classic red bottle.
But remember, if you can afford some time up front to clean, compound, polish, then wax... the time needed to maintain that fabulous finish is much shorter (relatively speaking of course).

            Hello,

Glad to be a part of this forum. I'm new to detailing, was a Marine for ten years and detailing relaxes me. I guess I can blame inspections and the whole attention to detail (OCD to the Marineth level) for my weird addiction/obsession to driving shiny, spot-free, "Immaculate" vehicles. Meguiars, if you should decide to make products for the military then please give me a call. I'd be happy to help develop all kinds of cleaners and sealants for my fellow Marines. Then again, it may not be a smart thing to have shiny humvees and other vehicles that are supposed to be dull, low-profile and tactical right?

Happy detailing, hope to join one of your Irvine classes soon.

            Capitan

Thanks everyone! Coach I know you are right - I just need to get a system and set of preferred products in place and stick with it.
