  • Russo and Steele Auction - Quik review & pix

I was lucky enough to be part of the team and represent Meguiars this past weekend at the Russo & Steele automobile auction in Newport Beach, Ca.. I'm going to share a few thoughts, along with a few pix. I hope y'all enjoy.

-1st of all, I'd like to give a huge bigups to Danielle for working non stop throughout the 3 day event. Thx to her we stayed ahead of the game. Whether it was helping us with the wipedowns, answering any questions, or just being part of the fun, she proved to excel in all phases and really knows her stuff. She's awesome!-

Friday night: 4 of us as a team with Danielle & Christofer Brown being the experienced ones at these events, while me & CypressWill were 1st timers at an auction.. As an endless stream of immaculate showcars slowly made their way across the black carpet in 4 lanes [with each lane almost 1/4 mile long] and as the sun faded into the night, everyone in attendance seemed to slip into the proper groove.. I've been to many carshows in the past, but there's something about the cars idling with their own distinctive sound while slowly crawling towards the stage that really brought out the emotions from a crowd that was without a doubt 100% Car Crazy! Whether it was a potential high roller looking to obtain his next toy/dreamcar, or a seller potentially parting ways with his longtime baby, or a car he/she restored from the ground up.. There was a huge level of pride and respect everywhere you looked.

The pride I take in knowing about and applying proper technique + representing Meguiars on this great stage, along with every car being a respectable classic in there own way kept us super busy and I personaly was in full on detail mode the 1st night.. I bearly took the time to stand back and enjoy the cars like I normaly would. But there were 2 exceptions. The 1st car that made my night was a white 1960 Cadillac Series 62 Convertable. It was funny because as it pulled up towards the front of the carpet and I stood back to enjoy the sight, I found myself standing next to several other people who had made their way to get a close look at the car and just enjoy the view. I took 1 look at the smiles of the people next to me and simply said to them, "y'all are Cadillac people huh"? They turned their heads and we all nodded our heads and laughed That was 1 of the highlights of my night. Where I find a nice looking Cadillac, I find good friendly people nearby

...Then I quikly returned to my duties as all 4 of us were plenty busy all night Meguiarizing the cars...

I only took 1 pic on Friday.. It was next to the 1988 Ferrari Testarossa. I was about 10yrs. old back in 88' And my childhood memories always had me dreaming of this car being the absolute coolest automobile on earth. I had been anticipating seeing this car up close, and here it wasI still love this car. I think I felt an increase in swagger just standing next to it! Lol :P

I can almost hear Bob aka imz4in yellin "hey Hollywood! Quit posing next to that Ferrari and get to work"! Lol.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Saturday Morning: Huan spot checking a Camaro.

      Danielle staying busy as always!

Blue skies & California sun + Top of the line rides at Russo and Steele.

I told you I always run into good people next to Cadillacs! It's Barry Meguiar! [highlight of my weekend. Simply Awesome]

Danielle seems to like red Ferrari's doesn't she?

Customized 1959 Black Coupe Deville. Flawless.

And just when I thought that 59' couldn't be topped.. Along came this 1958 Eldorado Biaritz Convertable...

I wanted to help this car so bad. But it was completely spotless & dust free.. So I went at the chrome to make sure it was all streak free and shiny as possible. Then I noticed the winshield was very dirty and I immedietly cleaned the glass on the car and as soon as I began to clean it, I was met by the very gracious owner of the car, who thanked me for adressing the windshield as it had somehow been overlooked by his guys. I was just happy to help! I met Very many nice people just like him during the weekend. Great car people, all around.

Just out of curiosity what do u guys use for wipe downs? SSMF? Cuz I see a water magnet in the one pic. Also what products Are u using detailer, ultimate, or mirror glaze. And do u walk around with a quick detailer and a window cleaner? Just really wondering how that all works for u guys.

Great question. And this turned out to be quite an eye opener for me. Could even be a game changer.. But I wont get ahead of myself and my own questions..

But the only product we used, even in direct sunshine on a jet black 2013 Audi which was quite dusty.. Dusty beyond the point the typical OCD person would dare try just some Quik Detailer on.. What product? Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere. The 1 that looks like milk in a spray bottle. Seeing us do what we did on these cars and on that Audi especially, because I inspected in the same sunlight for swirls after we were done basicly "washing" a near dirty black showcar.

            It was swirl free.
That's when I said to myself, ok This might just become something I can definetly get used to using on the cars at home! I've been thinking about this product all day. Lol. Barring it was "filling in" swirls or anything like that, I'm definetly going to add this to my arsenal. As far as towels, we only used Ultimate Wipes [those fancy white one's]
The water magnet you saw in my pic was only used in the late evening when the cars began to pick up moisture/dew from being outside the tented area. So we used the magnet to dry off the roof of a few cars.

U know what I forgot all about the ultimate wipes. And I would of never of thought about using the uwwa. I would think that there had to b something to give more shine to a clean car but I'm wrong. But raises another stupid question in my head y even go for the uqd when uwwa is really all I prob need. But I'm sure I'm wrong thinking that.

Great write up and thank for ending my curiosity.

Nice write up, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm pretty sure if I ever met Barry Meguiar, he'd move to the top of my list of the "Happiest People I Know".

Re: Russo and Steele Auction - Quik review & pix

Ric, thanks for helping out at the event over the weekend - man, oh man, did we pick the right guy when we added you to the list!! Talk about passion!!! We know how tedious it can get wiping down car after car after car...... for literally hours on end. But with your attitude the job is hardly a job at all, is it?

Oh, and speaking of Cadillacs, I took this on my cell phone and it's now the lock screen image on that device.

Thx you guys, for the kind words:]

@Mike. You're totally right, it didn't seem like work at all. In fact, it was the best weekend I've had in a while. Wish times like that could happen all the time!

Btw, I guess it's true what they say, great minds think alike. Because we have very similar pix on our lockscreens:p lol.
