More training and camaraderie at TNOG last week.
What better way to learn how to use a DA buffer than to travel to our training garage......with your rental car!!
Gather round boys, let's get a lesson in DA buffing!
After claying the hood it was time for a quick demo and then some hands on training.
When we say "hands on", we aren't kidding!
Look at those beautifully arranged passes: straight lines, properly sized work area, 50% overlap - perfect!!
And then we have this sort of horror - a key scratch in varying depth across almost the entire side of this Camaro.
The shallower areas were addressed with the DA Microfiber Correction System.
Some of the deeper areas had to be feather sanded by hand (yes, there is a foam block behind the sanding disc).
Sanding done so it's time to buff this out.
The DA Microfiber System easily handled the 3000 grit sanding marks.
Some of the more stubborn areas were addressed with 1000 grit and then 3000 grit with a pneumatic DA sander.
Once more with the DA Microfiber System.
That's more like it! There were some areas that simply could not be corrected as the scratch was down into the primer, but overall this glaring bit of vandalism has been reduced to a few small defects that even the owner has to search for.
