  • Mold in my GC Leather Wipes - _ -

I went to use my wipes today and was surprised to find them spotted with mold. What the heck? I've never had this happen b4 and used them just fine just over a week ago. I've always stored them in the same place indoors.. The only thing I did change was adding a zip lock bag underneath the lid to help it seal air tight & prevent them from drying up faster. [as someone suggested in a thread I read on here]
They're all spotted now. Strange deal.

The zip lock bag would have caused it. The lack of air is an ideal environment for mold.

I've had the same thing happen to foam applicator pads when I thought I'd try to keep them super clean. Now I put them in the zip lock bag, but don't seal it up all the way - no more issues.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Thanks for providing me with the proper explanation as to what caused it to happen. Too bad I only got to use maybe 5-6 wipes in the container, dang:/
From now on I'll only zip it shut while turning the container upside down as I've noticed the liquid in the wipes tends to end up saturating only the bottom half of the wipes if left standing upright. Turning the container upside down for a bit just prior to using them should even the moisture across the entire wipe.

Sorry to hear about this issue - nobody wants to open a container of product and find mold in it! Give a call to our Customer Care Center at 800.347.5700 about getting a replacement.

          You da man Mr. Stoops!
This is exactly the kind of stuff I just had to mention to Barry Meguiar at the MOL 10yr. party [I was the guy who complimented him and Meguiars as a whole for having the right kind of people as part of their company] Hearing him say it warmed his heart to hear that was awesome.. I've been using Meguiars stuff since I bought my 1st Caddy at age 18. And somehow I've always felt they understood "car guys" and treated us like good friends would, as opposed to simply customers & dollar signs.
I was looking all over this morning for my reciept as I felt this was pretty much my fault [not up to Meguairs to help me] and at best would take my chances and see if Oreliey would exchange. I never found the reciept and figured oh well..
But coming back and seeing your post, not of a garanteed solution or monetary refund, but something that matters much more than that.. And that's a genuine reply from a good hearted person willing to take a minute and relate to a likeminded car guy like a real deal person. I had never met you in person prior to that night, but from the little I had seen [on the few youtube vids you appear in] I got nothing but great vibes that seem to radiate from good hearted people.
You represent Meguiars' genuine class and real understanding of "car guys" personality. You deserve the compliments and are greatly appreciated by not only me, but what must be tons of good people you've helped along the way.
          Thank you, Michael Stoops!
