  • gelcoat

I just got a 1971 snowmobile. It has a fiberglass fairing. It's white gelcoat. I need to repair some spider cracking in the gelcoat (all the fiberglass is intact though). Then I need to get it white.

I tested some M105 on a good part of the gelcoat. It made it clean and glossy, but didn't really make it white. My white terry towel was noticeably whiter. I'm figuring to get it white, I will need to paint it. I haven't tried any marine or fiberglass-specific products like oxidation remover. Any chance they will actually whiten it? Whiteness is important because in the snow, anything but the brightest, purest white will look dingy.

try a wool pad on a rotary. the m105 should do the trick. if not look for something called aqua buff 1000 and 2000. the best gelcoat polishing product I've used on white.
