I tried removing some oxidation from my headlights with my DA and the DA Microfiber discs using both D300 and 105 products. I polished each head lamp for about 40 minutes and was only able to get them to about 65%, which is much better. Would I get better results with a headlight restoration kit? I was using a speed of 4.5 on my DA. Thanks, Ron

Do you have any pics? They may need sanding and the heavy duty restoration kit is a good investment. Pics would be helpful to recommend something for you to use.

The coating is starting to fail. The heavy duty restoration kit comes with sanding discs and everything else you need to get these lights looking good.

Headlights
This always produces a clear finish! Sand with 1500, then 2000. Use #105 w/4" wool pad, the Meguiars 4" yellow pad. Then, finish with Meguiars Plastic-x w/4" black pad. And if so desired, wax with Meguiars NXT spray wax. I've used this combo on all types of plastics as well as carbon fiber..... comes out amazing with minimal time. With headlights sometimes you just need to get more aggressive even though they don't necessarily look really horrible to start with. We've seen times when just a good buff with Ultimate Compound or M105 gets the job done, and we've seen some headlights that just don't want to respond at all and you simply have to pull out the sandpaper to correct them. And even then, sometimes you have to go even more aggressive with the sandpaper than you first thought. A couple of weeks ago we had a Cadillac CTS in our training garage that didn't look too bad, so we were shocked when we had to go with 500 grit dry sanding to start. The darn things just didn't want to correct without it. In the case of your vehicle, wig, we'd recommend our Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit with the 1000 and 3000 grit sandpaper.Michael Stoops

A lesson.....
Every project has it's own way of dictating the corrective process. Sometimes, I've thought "outside the box" and have gotten incredible results. And sometimes you go with something that just works. ......... just handle with care
