  • Perfect Clarity same as D120?

My bottle of the NXT glass cleaner is about to finish and while I was thinking of trying the Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner, I figured its a lot cheaper to buy D120. My question is, which of the two works better? I don't mind paying a premium for the better product. I just don't want to pay more for the same product labelled as a different product. Also, I don't care for the aerosol version.

Re: Perfect Clarity same as D120?

I used D120 for years and I don't like it, to many streaks.
PCGC is my go to now, works in a few wipes, smell great too.
I use only a few squirts of PCGC per car so cost is irrelevant to me, I hate glass and the easier to clean it is worth any price to me.

and Meg's doesn't "re-label" products, (this offends me) each product is made for a specific reason.
My friend test's for Meg's and I know how and why they make what they make.

Perfect Clarity is closer to NXT than it is to D120. Glass cleaning is often a major challenge for people (personally, I detest cleaning glass!) and some people absolutely love D120 while others (like Mario here), not so much. Of course, you can say that about any detailing product. If you're currently a big fan of NXT Glass Cleaner, you're probably better off sticking with Perfect Clarity as a replacement.

Thanks Michael! I will try perfect clarity first and then the D120. Where's the fun in not trying everything Meg's ever made

And I didn't mean to say that Meg's relabels products. What I meant was whether PC is a consumer version of d120. Honestly, I don't like the NXT Glass cleaner a lot and hoping perfect clarity would be better.

Perfect Clarity is some good stuff and I would personally recommend it over D120 (although this is a good product too, and very economical). I am also a part of the "I hate cleaning windows club" and would prefer to use the easiest product available that has the least chance of leaving streaks.

I stumbled onto my personal favorite a few weeks back and nothing I've used has come close to its results over the last 7 years of doing this professionally. D115 Rinseless Eash and Wax diluted down to about 20:1 is absolutely amazing. A little pricier than D120, but probably cheaper than PC. I've used it in direct sun, on rainy wet wet days, humid days, and I'm controlled environments and the results are almost the same in all situations. I've never been anywhere close to as pleased with a window cleaner - and that's not even its intended usage, but it works great!!

^ good idea with the D115, I may just try it!

I personally have NXT glass cleaner and a gallon of D120....I have no issues with either, but my process of cleaning glass is quite simple:
            * I use 2 MFTs, spray one MFT with which ever glass cleaner(one or 2 pulls is usually enough) and wipe/clean glass, grab the 2nd DRY MFT and buff dry. I never get streaks.

I think D120 works exactly like NXT...at least for me.

I don't care to clean glass, but on my cars, I do it often and using a simple method, my glass is invisible.

                I hate doing interiors period.
Took this past weekend to do the interior with the exception of the shampooing carpets and it was a real PITA.

                    Awesome news bulletin!!!

My personal favorite is the interior rear window of two door cars that have back seats, (like a 2 door Civic or something like it). They are the biggest PITA ever!

I guess I am the odd man out. I like cleaning my windows. Well, if I could do it by magic I would. So I guess it might be better to say, I really like having clean windows. Particular the front and front sides. Which I clean at a rate of about 3 to 1 compare to the rears.

However, I'm always on a passive search for a better product to help me do this. So, glad to hear all the good reviews about PCGC from people in the know.

Re: Perfect Clarity same as D120?

I agree with all, and have hated cleaning glass for a long time, especially the inside of the windshield!!!

But I have been using an old trick from my Mom and my Aunts for a little while now, and it has surely been easing my anxieties regarding glass cleaning.

Now I'm Not sure if this has any kind of negative effect on auto glass, but I have not noticed any, and I don't use this method on tinted windows to be safe.

But I first wipe my windows down with 50/50 Vinegar and water solution which cuts through anything sticking on the windows, then I give them a final wipe down with with my chosen glass cleaner. If the interior windows are really bad with someones smoke residue or Interior protectant over spray. I just increase the % of Vinegar, sometimes using full strength. That vinegar cuts through anything for me. Then my glass cleaner just tops off the Clarity and wipes out any streaks.

The one thing I have a problem with though, is How to make sure I am getting the RIGHT lighting to help me see any streaks on the windows. Because no matter how well I clean the glass, when the car rives through a different angle of light I can see spots I've missed, not because of the products, but just because I couldn't see them.

Do any of you guys use any special kind of lighting to see through different angles of the glass?

                        Thankyou all!

Low angle light is the best. Any glass will look good with light directly overhead but it is the low angle light that really will show the streaks (think sun rise and sun set) If you can get the light to duplicate that then you will really see the streaks and can remove them.

Hey, thank you a ton for that theamcguy! I will give that a whirl, and see how she goes. BTW, I used to own an old AMC car. I think it's the same company as the one in your avatar. It was a 1979 AMC Eagle. I loved that car.
