  • Leather product on 2013 ivory leather

I bought the mcguiars leather cleaner for my new 2013 Honda accord. I have ivory leather with black two tone. My blue jeans rub off some. Anyone confirm mcguiars won't cause color fastness? I tried a small inconspicuous area. I will look at in sunlight tomorrow. Anyone confirm it works fine?

Yes dear don't be worry about the color of leather because I am also using the Meguiars leather care product from past few years and getting good results from it. But you need to care for other things which can affect the leather. like direct sun rays are very harmful for leather.. You need to cover the leather with something to stop the sun light.

I'd recommend cleaning and then sealing the leather to prevent dye transfer from your jeans or other dyed material. Once the dye has transferred to the leather coating it becomes difficult to remove. The longer the dye is in contact with the topcoat the deeper it goes and hence makes cleaning nearly impossible. Sealing the leather will keep dye from penetrating the topcoat and if it does transfer it is easily removed as it sits on the topcoat not in it.

Don't confuse leather protectants (sealers) with conditioners as they are two different things. Conditioners will not prevent dye transfer.

Thanks for the help. I bought this,
Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Spray, 16 oz.

But I guess this isn't a sealant? Car is brand new so I at least have a chance to deal with it.
