  • G7214 vs G17914 Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner..Question for Michael Stoops

Michael, I bought G17914 GC Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner thinking it was the same as G7214 GC Rich Leather Cleaner/Condtioner. G17914 is a pump bottle, G7214 is not. Now, when I look these products up on Meguiar's.com, G17914 is named a "Rich Leather Cleaner" despite the product's actual packaging and written description as a Cleaner/Conditioner. G7214 on the website is named a Cleaner/Conditioner. Both products, however, claim to clean and protect (condition) in one easy step. What is the difference between these two products? The bottle and written descriptions are almost identical, but Meguiar's.com naming of G17914 is somewhat confusing. Will both products produce the same results? Thank you.

While both will accomplish light cleaning and provide excellent moisturizing for the leather, the G17914 gel will not dry white in perforations, along stitching, etc. It should also provide less gloss than G7214 will - not that G7214 is a high gloss product, just that the gel is less so. If you don't have perforated leather it's probably not a big concern, but those who do have this finish and then overuse the product (which is typical of most consumers with most products, truth be told) have complained about it drying and plugging up the small holes. This can be avoided by not overusing the product, applying the product to a towel first and working into the towel a bit, or simply moving to a product that won't cause this issue - like G17914.

Thank you, Michael. Good information. I think I made the right choice in G17914.
