Polishing and Waxing With Meguiar's DA Power System

After viewing the video clip you can scroll down for a step by step refresher, complete with still images shot during the filming of the video.

Please keep in mind that this video, and the others in the series, are not designed to be definitive how to guides but rather, as the name implies, Quik Tips that address the most common questions and mistakes associated with each topic.

Polishing and waxing your car by hand has been described as therapeutic by some and time consuming and tiring by others. No matter where you fall, there are tools available to help polishing and waxing deliver better results, faster and easier. In some cases, these tools, like a rotary polisher, are designed for and should be left to a professional. While other tools, like the Meguiar's Dual Action Polisher, are designed for an enthusiast. Even though our Dual Action Polisher is safe and easy to use, it can still be perceived as intimidating and costly to a novice.

As a result, we designed the Meguiar's DA Power System for anyone who may be intimidated by other tools and machines but is ready to jump from hand application to the next level of car care. Weather you're left handed or right handed, the Meguiar's DA Power System is designed to fit into any drill and can be used to easily remove swirls or simply spread wax with ease.

Before working on your car with the Meguiar's DA Power System, begin by washing and drying your car thoroughly and if needed, clay your car using our Smooth Surface Clay Kit.

For removing defects like heavy swirls, oxidation, stains or scratches, we recommend using our burgundy foam cutting pad and Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Simply attach the DA Power System to any drill, then attach the Meguiar's foam cutting pad. Apply the product directly to the pad and place the pad flat on the paint. Turn on the drill and begin buffing with moderate pressure in an overlapping pattern while keeping the pad flat against the paint at all times. Work a small section at a time, applying additional product as needed until all defects have been removed. Before moving on to the next section, use our Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel to wipe away any product residue before it dries.

For removing light swirls, or as a follow up to Ultimate Compound, we recommend using our yellow foam polishing pad and Meguiar's Ultimate Polish. Simply attach the polishing pad to the DA Power System tool, then apply the product directly to the pad and place the pad flat on the paint. Turn on the drill and begin buffing with light to moderate pressure in an overlapping pattern while keeping the pad flat against the paint at all times. Work a small section at a time, applying additional product as needed until all defects have been removed. Before moving on to the next section, use our Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel to wipe away any product residue before it dries.

For applying wax, we recommend using our black foam finishing pad and your favorite Meguiar's wax. Simply attach the pad to the DA Power System tool, then apply the product directly to the pad and place the pad flat on the paint.
Turn on the drill and begin buffing with light pressure in an overlapping pattern while keeping the pad flat against the paint at all times. Re-apply the wax to the pad as often as needed until the entire vehicle has a thin, even coat of wax on it. When the wax is dry, use a separate, clean Supreme Shine Microfiber Towel for easy removal.

Wash and dry your foam pads as needed and store them for the next use.

This is the condition of the finish before we started.....

...and this is what we were able to achieve quickly and easily with the DA Power System.

The DA Power System looks easy to use and works smoothly indeed.
Forced rotation should compensate smaller pad size for quicker defect removal.

I was just going to say that.

Nice video and great tutorial on how to properly use the device. This will certainly eliminate any confusion on how to properly use the tool.

So Mike S, when will you show up in these Quik Tips video series?

Re: Meguiar's Quik Tips Video Series - The DA Power System

I ordered the DA power system along with additional pads as I already had UC and UP in my collection, its first use was on a 5 year old 2007 Nissan Sentra, paint had minor defects and had never been waxed just general automatic car washes, therefore there were typical cobb web scratches and such all over, after some UC the color popped like new, after some UP nearly flawless, after the wax LIKE NEW! I am amazed at how simple and fast it is to care for a car the proper way out of my garage. If you don't have the funds for the full size DA this is the right way to go. Meguiars for LIFE!!!

I did like the video and I hope I can get the DA system here in Australia. Buying a DA polisher here is SO expensive, they start at $250.00 and got to about $800.00.

It doesnt cover an area quite as quickly with being smaller, but it sure works good.

Re: Meguiar's Quik Tips Video Series - The DA Power System

I just saw this at the Walmart in Bellingham Washington, near the Canadian border. I was tempted to buy it as it was just $55, they also had the pad and compounds/polish/ wax packs for about $12 each.
I already have a G110V2, GG6 and GG3...so I passed on it...though I might get it for my brother who's not quite car crazy.
I spunned the pad with my fingers and can see the Dual action....pretty much any corded drill can be used to save your muscles
This is a great product for people on a budget

Thanks Meguiar's for answering another car girls prayers. I am about to turn 57 and after years of working on a computer my hands get pretty cramped up and numb at the end of hand detailing my car. I have shown my car since 2009 and as I've gotten older - it was getting harder to do. Since the car I show is my daily driver it takes a lot to get it ready for showing. Most of the time hit the garage as soon as I can cool down the paint with a large fan. I am in the garage from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Then up early the next day to drive to the show. It wears me out and I was beginning to feel like just not going to shows anymore because it was getting to be too much. I am going to order this system. I had planned on doing a claying, polishing and wax on Memorial weekend. I normally after this just need to wash it and wax the night before a show - so this will really make it easier. I can use this to wax and while it is drying will work on the interior. Once again you've saved the day for this older car gal!

hey guys, I have always done my cleaning, claying, waxing an polishing by hand. I am getting a little older, but cleaning my cars and riding my harley are my therapys. I am afraid to start with any machine. I am hoping some day to plan a work trip to calif and catch a TNOG session, but until then, if I pick up the DA at Wally world, can I use it with my rigid drill? What can I do to get confidence? I dont want to scratch my black tundra.

^^^ it's safe to use on any car. don't be afraid of it. it's not a rotary buffer. it has a clutch in it and you can't burn your paint or do any serious damage, if any.
Just watch the video, it's not a lie. It's that easy to use.
