Swirls in my new 2012 Ram Express

I just purchased a new Deep Cherry Red Metallic, 2012 Ram Express. I love my truck but...there are minor swirls in the finish. I have been detailing for awhile now but I am new to the Meguiars line of products. I am wondering what products you would recommend to me for the best results possible. I am not sure if I should use Swirlx, Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, ect...Please help me make my trucks finish all it can be. I do have a polishin pal with 2 white pads and 2 red pads....thank you...

Thank you for your reply. So there ARE corrective qualities with UP...not just fillers correct?

Re: Swirls in my new 2012 Ram Express

I just purchased 6 new 4" spot buff CCS pads to use with my Polishin pal. I ordered (1) orange pad, (2) white pad, (2) black pads, and (1) red finishing pad...I assume I use the white pad with the Ultimate Polish first and then check results on a small area, then step up to the orange pad only if needed? Should I apply a coat of CG Blacklight over the Ultimate Polish using the black/gray pads, then use the red pads and apply my sealant? Thank you all for your help!

Welcome to MOL from a fellow Wisconsin Ram owner!

Beautiful color truck! I was stuck between that and white but went with the white.

Ultimate Polish (UP) with a Meg's yellow polishing pad will clean and correct very minor swirl marks.

Re: Swirls in my new 2012 Ram Express

Again, I cannot say with enough enthusiasm, get yourself a bottle of Meg's #205, and go to town!

With such a new vehicle, you might not even need a machine, or if you properly maintain it, you will NEVER need a machine.

Machines are wise for a business, wise, and smart for a neglected paint finish. But not at all needed for a newer vehicle, if you know what products to use, and how to use them.

Wash, clay, inspect the paint. One qt of Meg's #205 should last you a few years.

Have on hand a 1/2 dozen new MF Applicators, and a 1/2 doz good MF Towels. Take a section-panel at a time. Work in the shade, with good lighting.

Finish with a good sealant. You will not be disappointed with what 205 can do. Mark
