When you are done polishing, the area should be wiped clean with a microfiber. If there is a possibility some polish is left over, you can wipe the area down with 50/50 (rubbing alcohol/water) mix. With the surface truly clean, the compound can do it's job effectively and level the clear.
You can wipe your car down with the 50/50 mix to remove all leftover polish/compound, giving a prepped surface for wax.
Ultimate polish before Ultimate Wax, if you are doing this by hand, your results will be significant better if you use a DA.
