Wheel brightener

Any suggestions would be appreciated from you guys. We recently started using Meg's wheel brightener at our shop ; it doesn't work very well at all , unless the wheels are fairly clean already. Mixed it 4:1 as per the directions,not nearly strong enough. We clean alot of dealer and wholesale cars here,so most wheels are pretty nasty, and vary from plastic wheelcovers, to painted factory wheels, etc. We also use a pressure washer if needed to blast the junk off. Any tips,tricks? or should we go back to our old product (non-Meg's) ?

Ive never had an issue. I mix 4:1 let it sit for about a minute then rinse off and use a wheel brush with soap and water to wash the wheel and this removes anything else that was left with ease.

I use WB 4:1 to "loosen" up any brake grime...spray, wait 30 seconds, hose off.
Then i spray with APC+ 10:1, agitate with my Daytona wheel brush, hose off.

But since my wheels are cleaned soo often, I really don't need WB anymore.

Yea, it's too bad you cannot just spray, wait then hose off with WB, maybe i'm doing something wrong?

Even as good as Wheel Brightener is, you can't just spray it on and hose it off expecting everything to come off with it. Normally it gets fantastic reviews, but if you're looking for something to use in that fashion then perhaps you need to look elsewhere. Most people love it because it's easy to use, highly effective, and safe on most surfaces (not recommended on uncoated, polished metals). This just may be a situation where it's not the best fit for your needs.

Michael, thanks for the reply. I'm definitley not expected to just spray it on ,wait , then hose it off. 99% of the wheels we wash need to be agitated ,whether it be with a mitt, or a brush. But for some reason it's not taking anything off, I'm pretty surprised. The APC+ (10:1)seems to do a much better job at removing brake dust,etc. than the wheel brightener (4:1) . I'll give it a chance, I absolutely LOVE Meg's products, they exceed my expectations by far.

It's odd to me that you find APC+ at 10:1 is more effective than WB at 4:1. I feel WB is almost too strong for most cars I work on (and many have neglected wheels too) as I use WB at 10:1 with great results when agitated and only pull out my 3:1 bottle for very bad wheels.

Along with not using it on unpolished metals, I would also highly suggest not using it on plastic hubcaps, especially at 4:1. If left very long it will take the paint right off the plastic, so beware.
