Ultimate Polish Tips?

I also found it EXTREMELY difficult to remove. I was used to using ColorX as my polish followed by M16, but bought a bottle of the UP because I couldn't find ColorX, and the directions on the UP bottle seemed easy "Easy Wipe Off". Well, it was not easy for me on a 2 x 2 section of a black trunk. (Using a buffer and car was cool) So I searched high and low for ColorX and that is what I will be using for my polish.
Looks like I am going to have nearly a full bottle of UP to grow old on my work bench.

i had the same problem with a very old paint, what i did was to put 2 coats of wax (even if it is not polsihed) and then once the paint is "refreshed" you can work it very well, and you can remove it with no problem at all

My paint is only a few years old, but has been extremely well taken car of, so the paint is not the issue. As for your suggestion, while appreciated, I think I will pass.
I don't mind a little work but to have wax the car twice, then put UP on it, just so it is easy to remove, and then have to wax again seems a little much.

Stupid question, but I was on AutoGeek looking at the Meg's 6 inch G110V2 polisher and I can't figure out what size pads it would use... There is a bundle pack that uses 7 inch pads. There is another bundle pack that comes with 5.5 inch pads. Add to the fact that there are no 6 inch pads on the Meg's section, I'm really really confused lol. What size would you use with that polisher!?

I would pick 5.5". Smaller size pad works better with DA for paint correction. My $0.02.

I was going to say the same thing. Excessive wax is really difficult to remove. Put on thin coats and the result will be the same, but much less effort.

I believe the original posters question was relating to polish?

A couple of members have used the word wax....

Just use it in 2ft by 2ft sections....and wipe off before dry.

Follow by your choice of wax.

Ultimate Gold Class is my preferred choice.

We do see rare issues where UP is difficult to remove, even when used as properly as one could properly use it. This product is part of our regular mix of products in our Saturday Classes and since it came out I have yet to encounter a car where it's truly problematic. In the extreme majority of cases it wipes off extremely easily, and in a few cases it has left a bit of excess behind that needed just a very quick application of some fresh product and immediate wipe off to remove it all. That said, I have personally worked on a single car where UP was just not cooperating at all, so I know it can happen. The crazy thing is, I have yet to find any sort of rhyme or reason as to why it's problematic on a very small percentage of cars - age, paint condition, weather, etc don't seem to be the deciding factor or a common denominator We've seen it happen on cars that are well cared for like Blueline's, and also on older, neglected cars. But we also see it work extremely well on both types, and in fact the extreme majority of the time it does just that - works like a charm.

But no one product is going to be perfect on all paints under all circumstances. I have personally seen M105 to be literally unusable on some paint even though in most cases it's great stuff - as users on forums all over the place will attest. Still, it's not perfect everywhere. Even M205, which I have never personally found to be anything but a pure joy to use, has had a couple of reports of difficult wipe off. The same can be said for almost any product on the market and if you spend time on other detailing forums you'll see situations where one person had an issue with a product that most others think is just fantastic. Sometimes it's down to user error, but not always, and when someone describes great technique, or when it's someone we're really familiar with and have great confidence in, we know that it's down to compatibility issue with the product and paint. We can almost always spot user error very quickly, but in cases where user error is not an issue it's not always easily explained, which is what makes it so very frustrating. And that frustration runs from the end user to those trying to assist on a forum, and even to our R&D group.

Can some one tell me when to use Ultimate Polish(UP)? Does it have SMAT and is it able to correct paint? Why do we need a true polish when it will have no correcting abilities when it only conditions the paint color and fill in light swirls when 90% of cars these days have clear coats are true Polishes only for single stage paints? Also I don't understand why we need to use a Polish when Waxes like Ultimate Wax will also improve color and fill in light swirls?

Meguiars now makes 3 different sized DA specific backing plates to go with their respective sized pads. All of which work w/ the G110v2. They are the W67DA to go w/ W8006, W9006, DMC5 and DMF5 pads. W68DA to go w/ W8206 and W9206. And, S6BP to go w/ their DMC6 and DMF6 pads. Keep in mind, you should use the correct counter balance weight on your DA according to what size backing plate your using.

If you have a G110V2, you will not need a counter balance.
