How Long It Takes to Wax by DA?

As the title states, I'm curious as to how long it takes everyone to wax one car using a DA. Though UQW really helps with maintenance, I'd love to be able to apply a full coat more often!

With a DA and some NXT 2.0 on a car takes just about 15 mins to apply one thin coat.

A four door car, no ladder work, hand work and DA, using ULW is about an hour.

It takes me about 15 minutes to wax a medium to full sized sedan using a D/A. It's a lot faster and easier than applying a coat by hand.

Bumpers and the small areas take as much time as doing the rest of the car. I normally do all the panels on the car with a D/A and then remove the pad from the machine and use it to do the bumpers and the lower part of the car.

Since you're in Laguna Hills you should come down for a Thursday Night Open Garage (next week would be good!) and we can show you how long it should take to wax your car with a DA. But if you're thinking about buying a DA just to apply wax, you're missing out on the really good stuff a DA can do for your can, and for you.

Just to apply wax is fine by me. Uniformity and less wear and tear on the bad shoulders. I apply products with DA and remove by hand so i can feel it bring removed. I use a bonnet on it to remove rain x from the windshield.

Using my Meg's DA with 7" pads on the hood/body/top of vehicle and then swapping to 4" pads for the bumpers/pillars, will take me from 1 to 1.5 hours. It depends on the vehicle size. I alway's use a detailers stool to cut down on back and neck pain.

One thought here, Applying wax with a D/A, could the pad used actually micro mar the paint that you have worked so hard to to make flawless?

Re: How Long It Takes to Wax by DA?

Bob, it is possible that you could cause some micro marring by applying wax with a DA, but you'd have to have some very delicate paint. Or use the wrong pad. Or use it too aggressively. Then again, you could also cause marring by overly aggressively hand applying wax, or on some stupid delicate paints you end up scratching it when you wipe off the hazed wax with a clean, fresh microfiber.

Proper technique, working very clean, and using the right pad for the job is very important here.
