    Clean Glass

I just had a new windshield installed and would like to know the best way to protect it. Should I just wax it or should I use something else ?

It's not to often that you start with a clean slate. I'd like to get good results since there's nothing on the glass as of yet.

    Thanks.

Some people like wax, some dont. I like RainX, some dont.

I might still clay if you have some, then a glass cleaner, then either the RainX or wax if you want to use something.

I have tried RainX in the past and it work great during the day, but it fogged up at night when it rained. I figured it was because the glass was still dirty. Using clay sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a try on the new glass.

    Thanks for the reply.

I would go with RainX. It fogged up at night eh? What if you turned your defroster on with heat? Maybe you just didn't wipe the product off completely or something.

I guess it fogged up during the day also. Didn't seem that bad though because there weren't any lights shining at you. I never tried the defrost. It was summer and about 80 degrees out. We'll see how it works on a clean windshield.

May have been residue you didnt get all off?

I would apply the RainX, and let it dry, then use a damp/wet towel then a dry towel to remove.

    Re: Clean Glass

I used to just wash my car and dry it including the glass. The glass never looked that good but I thought it would be silly to use a glass cleaner on it since I had just washed it and it was clean. I was wrong. The glass cleaner does a much better job than just the soap you wash the car with. As usual, keeping something as clean as you can is the best way to have it looking good for a long time. So now my wash routine just got a bit longer ... oh well

    Re: Clean Glass

Well I just finished cleaning my windshield with Meguiars Perfect Clarity and then used RainX wax on dry glass. I waited for it to haze and then buffed it off with a damp cotton towel. Now the glass is streaked and looks rediculous. I knew I shouldn't have used that stuff.

How do I get it off now? Try buffing it again tomorrow ?
