  • Which discs for new clear ?

I want to level the orange peal and dust nibs a few days after I am done spraying the new clear.

Should I start with SANDING OR FINISHING unigrit 1500 discs?

Should I use a interface pad? Or dirrectly attach them to the backing pad?

I was then planning on using the unigrit 3000 finishing discs with no interface pad to refine the 1500 scatches before componding and polishing with the rotary buffer.

    Any sugestions?

If your intent is to level orange peel and you have plenty of new clear on so that you can safely do this, then you can go either way with regard to use of 1500 finishing or sanding discs. If you have plenty of clear but a lot of peel that you really need to mow down, then a 1500 sanding disc will give the most cut. If you don't use an interface disc you'll cut faster still and remove quite a bit of clear very quickly. For safety sake, especially if this process is new to you, we'd suggest starting with the interface pad in place and removing it if, and only if, you aren't removing as much orange peel as you'd like. Finish with the 3000 finishing disc, but definitely use the interface pad when doing so. You'll get a very nicely refined finishing mark in the paint that should buff out very easily.

Yeah all my auto body budies say that 3 coats of clear should be fine for wet sanding and buffing. So I always shoot 4 or even 5 coats. It costs a few 100 dollars more in clear over the whole car but it's well worth it!

Can I start off dry sanding with the unigrit 1500 sanding discs to get the peel flat?
I have done it with other manufactures discs and the really cool part about doing it dry is you can see when the clear is flat. You dont have to wipe the water off and check your progress like you do when damp or wet sanding.

Our 1500 Unigrit discs are designed for damp sanding only. You'd have to go down to our 800 grit for dry sanding but you might not want to go quite that aggressive.

Ok I will try the 1500 sanding discs damp. Damp sanding is much easier to check your work than wet sanding is.
