    All Season Dressing How to?

I bought some to try, and it does well on my tires. I'm having trouble getting it to dress the black plastic cover on my bumper of my 2005 Chevy truck. I sprayed it on and let it sit a little then wipe it with a foam applicator, like I do my tires. The next day I have some shinny spots and some dull spots. What am i doing wrong?

Try spraying on the foam applicator then applying or spray it on then spread evenly immediately.

Did you clean the plastic with APC before applying ASD? Dressings need a clean surface to bond too.

I think you may need to spread the product on the bumper a little better. A little goes a long ways.

Use a cheap generic $1.00 paint brush you can find at Lowes or Home Depot to spread it around. I would also suggest not spraying it directly from the bottle onto the bumper, this can cause overspray and you may be wasting some of the product.

I cleaned it with APC+. And will try the paint brushes.

Like the others have mentioned, it's really best to spray the product onto an applicator and then apply to the surface. When you spray it directly onto the surface, like you describe, you get a very uneven application of product at first, and then when you allow that to sit there for a bit there are places where it absorbs more fully into the pores of the surface and an uneven appearance results. Even though you did come back later and wipe with an applicator, the absorption was pretty well done by then.

This application process is advised regardless of product being used, or where it's being used. For interior dressings it's really important so as to avoid overspray onto surfaces you don't want the product on, especially if you miss some and it self dries on a delicate surface like a navigation screen. Obviously that's more critical then when applying to a bumper or tires, but overspray that self dries onto anything is generally not a good idea.
